Abbacaxi (Thomas Garnett) is a vocalist, multi-instrumentalist and producer from Maynooth, Co. Kildare. Beginning his performing career as a teen playing rock and funk, he later dove deep into crafting songs strongly rooted in House music, influences that continue to inform his sound.
After studying Music Technology in university, Thomas spent three years in Berlin, experimenting with performing live electronic sets in Ableton, doing deliveries on his bike, and listening to hours of live house mixes. After a successful three month spell of busking in The Canary Islands, Thomas returned home to Ireland to focus on releasing his own music.
The release of his debut EP Endless garnered some international airplay, a spot on Rolling Stones ‘Highlights of the Week’ and BBC introducing, and supporting artist slots for Elder Island and Elderbrook in Vicar Street. Abbacaxi performs a stomping, energetic and melodic live set, including highlight performances at Irish festivals such as All Together Now and Body and Soul.
Abbacaxi live show takes you on a trip with plenty of emotional peaks and troughs. Playing instruments and synths, looping from a library of his own sounds and singing, he goes from trip-hop to house. Hands-in-the-air moments to singalongs and back again, all with the sort of melodies and top-lines you don't soon forget.
