Born in the 90s, singer/songwriter Rebecca Ava Calvert going my the moniker 'AVA CALII' was raised listening to power house vocals like Celine Dion and Whitney Houston. The thought of becoming a singer herself only lived in her imagination as growing up extremely shy and introverted the school choir was as far as Ava got (no solos either). It wasn’t until 2014 when she moved away from home that she picked up a guitar and started to sing, when people she met while travelling started to tell her, she had a gift and she needed to write and release her my own music. That encouragement motivated her to step outside of her comfort zone and on returning home to Belfast after travelling for a few years, she met her now husband, who has since turned into her producer. Together they worked on producing Ava’s debut track ‘Brighter Days’, released April 2022, with 2 more singles to follow this year. Ava’s style blends together atmospheric, dream pop with Neo-soul. Her sound draws from influences like Amy Winehouse, Lana Del Rey, Leon, Hozier and Florence and the Machine. Vulnerable and relatable she hopes the messages her songs carry will bring hope and light to people who listen.
