Balcony Sunrise

Electronica // Belfast, Antrim

'The Balcony Sunrise plan is a simple one - “soundtrack your daydreams”. With over 4.5 million streams, daydreams have been enhanced in cities throughout the world such as New York and LA, in São Paulo and Seoul. Over on Instagram, a community of music fans have used this music to accompany their blissful reels of Norwegian sunsets, beach days in Cyprus and Miami mornings.

Balcony Sunrise is based in Belfast, Northern Ireland and is a collaborative project with brothers David and Stephen. The music is composed on synths and Ableton software and smartly picked guitar lines on a Fender Stratocaster. Producer and multi-instrumentalist, David Ferris, finds his inspiration in the city pop artwork of Hiroshi Nagai, in the music of The xx, Underworld and Orbital and of course the family’s old Dire Straits records.

In 2024, his music was sought out by fans in 172 countries. Tunes like ‘The Heat’, ‘Get You The Moon’ and ‘Back Home’ took the listener to peak experiences, real or imagined. All senses are invoked; in a world of chaos, Balcony Sunrise brings us respite. His music has been featured in Hot Press, XS Noise, Belfast Telegraph and continues to get support from Golden Plec, Chordblossom and radio stations such as 8RadioIreland and Cool FM.

Since his debut live performance at the Oh Yeah Centre for the Scratch My Progress Showcase event in November 2022, he has gone from strength to strength. He performed incredible sets at Stendhal and IYKYK festival in Dundalk during the summer of 2024. Balcony Sunrise capped the year off with a packed out warehouse party in Belfast that captivated ravers young and old with his blend of nostalgic electronica, pulsating beats and live guitar work.

2025 is set to be a big year for Balcony Sunrise; backed by funding from PRS, a new 3 track EP is currently in production and it will highlight the progression of contemporary sounds whilst still staying true to his original style. Inspired by the feeling of performing at these festivals and influenced by the sounds of Bicep, Overmono, Jamie xx and Fred Again.
