Blood Donor is a rock-pop artist hailing from Meath. The solo project of ex-Otherkin frontman Luke Reilly, Blood Donor is a creative outlet that allows him to showcase his deft songwriting prowess alongside his keen producer’s ear. His music spotlights his indelible pop melodies which are the absolute centre-stage of Blood Donor's sound. At their fringes, you will find beautifully rendered 3-part harmonies, plush instrumental vignettes and unique sonic detailing. Lyrically, Blood Donor chronicles 'the small moments', the quiet details that seem so little but reveal so much. This is songwriting as world-building and these are songs that are worlds unto themselves.
These are songs that have taken time in gestation, each melody lovingly rendered to ensure that it speaks for itself. There are moments of hushed intimacy, moments of simmering tension and release and moments of full-blown max-wattage mania. Blood Donor draws from a deep pool of sounds and influences but his gravelly croon ties it all together, making it sound effortlessly cohesive, something that is represented throughout his 10-track debut album 'Autofiction'.
Blood Donor's releases to date have enjoyed considerable airtime on radio stations in both Ireland and the UK, having been named a 'Future Artist' by BBC Radio One's Jack Saunders and having received healthy rotation on RTÉ 2FM, Today FM and 8Radio. Known for his magnetism and presence as a frontman during his Otherkin years, he is now touring with a 5-piece band featuring some of Ireland’s finest live musicians, ready to produce more unforgettable live experiences. Welcome to his world.
