Blueberry Rouge

Blueberry Rouge, with roots in soul, jazz and funk music, are quickly emerging as an exciting change of pace in the Irish music scene.

The arranging process of Donegal’s Ronan Friel, placing form and harmony to the melodic poetry
of Pittsburgh’s Jennifer Waters, compliment the rooted rhythms and spatial production of
Carlow’s Ryan O’Neill. Originating from college open-mic nights, the band found their feet through Stevie Wonder and Michael Jackson covers. Strangers would often comment that the band were ‘absolutely ‘airtight’, friends asked ‘just why aren’t you a band yet’.
Well, they are now.

Blueberry Rouge are a breath of fresh air, the first sip of a cold can of coke.
Exporting a self produced sound that just breathes quality, from the musicianship
of the band, to the infectious vocals of Jennifer Waters. Their debut EP, Blueberry Rouge, was launched in October 2020, receiving airplay across Ireland and internationally via radio and streaming services.

Forming during a national lockdown had its challenges, but a steady flow of online
content including live videos and covers, behind the scenes footage from studio and livestreamed
gigs helped the trio to broaden their audience and define their sound as a band. Now, as Ireland transitions back to some kind of normality, Blueberry Rouge are ready to cement themselves as 'a thrilling new force in Irish music' (Hotpress, 2020).
