Coming from the ‘nearly made it’ pile of the late ‘90s, Irish singer, songwriter & producer Bobby Hewitt stepped out from the musical wilderness and climbed back into the saddle to record his first musical project in many years.
Inspired by the birth of his Daughter and the death of his Dad, the Athlone native teamed up with acclaimed Irish producer Gavin Glass to record an EP titled 'A Kid Again' set for release mid June 2023.
The lead track 'A Kid Again' has been described as 'somewhere between Bruce Springsteen, Tom Petty and Pixies' and is a Summer indie-anthem in the making...it is his reflective look (as a Dad) to the past, present and what the future may hold
Bobby's musical story started as a kid playing cardboard boxes along to Queen albums emulating Roger Taylor and by his early teens was also a self-taught guitarist, singer and songwriter.
He was the drive behind ‘Murv’ an exciting and energetic Irish unsigned band of the late 90's. His song ‘King For A Day’ was voted best unsigned unplugged song of the year in 1999 (Bacardi/HotPress Music Mag) and a year later Murv were crowned champions of the ‘Heineken Green Energy’ (a prestigious Irish springboard showcase/competition). With Irish TV appearances and UK shows, industry executives were muting big things for the band and the future then seemed bright but as with countless others, the light faded and Murv were added to the ‘nearly made it' pile.
The recent past saw Jamie Oliver’s FoodTube Channel feature one of his songs (recorded by then band ‘The Disconnected Bliss’) and with a return to the studio Bobby's forthcoming EP might once again prove to never give up on your dreams!
