Chaperones formed on a trip to Argentina in January 2008 when Vinny and Alan left Dublin to travel. Armed with a couple of acoustic guitars they spent six months traveling, writing and playing anywhere that would provide them with a stage. Meanwhile back in Ireland Cathal (brother of Alan) had formed a band with Seery and the pair had together started to work on tracks of their own. Upon the boys' return from South America both groups realized they had been creating similar music. While the traveling duo were in need of a rhythm section the others were seeking a lead guitarist and singer, thus Chaperones were born.
The band's first demo ‘Devil Dressed in Drag’ was recorded at Fastlane Studios in Donabate and has received airplay on various Irish radio stations. In addition, the band has performed at some of the biggest clubs in Buenos Aires including Kika Club, Belushi, Wherever Bar and on the capital's Radio Palermo.
Currently, the boys are doing what they do best and performing as much as possible around Ireland. They plan a 2013 return to Argentina and are lining up some UK shows in order to promote their upcoming single 'Fuego', a demo of which has also been included on the most recent Music Review Unsigned compilation.
