Cole Rua

Acoustic // Dublin, Dublin

While others were lying about their age to get in to pubs to drink, Cole Rua was lying to get in to play gigs. Rua was born into a home which encouraged artistic exploration. Starting with violin and moving on then to piano. After hurting his arm in an accident he focused more on his singing. Cole sang in various groups over the years and picked up the guitar "because no one would help me write music I liked. They were stuck with their oasis and blur while I wanted to do soul, blues and disco funk". After graduating from "The Rock School" where he started playin heavy metal. "I picked up the bass in college at the same time I started playing it in a heavy metal band I was singing in, Lemmy is god obviously. No matter what I've always loved playing bass, when played right it is such a sexy sound." He put together a number of bands including Cold Addiction where he had a chance to stretch his musical wings "I didn't want to do just one style, I needed variety" but after the break up of the band he decided to go solo. Cole Rua has now completed his new EP and is just back from his US tour supporting fellow music college companion and friend Tony Benn. "Touring the US was an amazing experience but after playing 21 gigs over 24 days I was shattered and eager to get back, relax with a glass of wine and write some songs". Rua is currently working on his album to be released in September.
