“a forceful originality” – CLASH
"it’s the start of an exciting era for the Dublin native." – District
“occupies multiple musical worlds” - Line of Best Fit
Cruel Sister is Faith Nico and hails from Dublin, Ireland.
Cruel Sister writes, produces and mixes all of her own music and self-released her debut ep girls my age in the summer of 2022 receiving some brilliant tastemaker press (District, Nialler 9, CLASH, Line of Best Fit) and radio support (RTE2, Jack Saunders) with playlisting from NME New Bangers, The Forty Five, Hot New Bands and gracing the cover of The LOBF discovery playlist on Spotify.
Her first single my forever can only be described as an indie banger – alive with texture with nods to early PJ Harvey and Sister era Sonic Youth the song contorts with a tone and mood and explores the angst and uncertainty of being young and falling in and out of love. The second track that Cruel Sister released, too much, is a song about a gruelling heartbreak hoping to death that you are not the only one that is feeling so bad – it is the spiritual antithesis to my forever.
Born and raised in a musical family Faith has been playing guitar and writing songs since she was 11 years old. She started producing herself when she was 19 as in her words “I decided to produce everything myself because I knew I was the only one who could make the sound I wanted”
2023 will see Cruel Sister releasing her second ep.
