Davy Flats

A mediocre drummer by trade, Davy Flats’ first dalliance into the music industry was in 2008, when he co-founded The Coonics (later Strange Boats) with three childhood friends. After releasing a number of well received singles, E.P.s and an album, the band took a break and Davy relocated from the West of Ireland to North London where he started writing his first songs at the age of 32. An old man at heart, Davy’s songs tend to be observations on important topics such as Brexit, infidelity, religion, consumerism and mundane tasks.

Following on from his successful debut single 'Snowflakes' (which Steve Lamacq (BBC 6Music) described as "the sort of thing that might have tickled his (John Peel's) fancy"), Davy released the Double A Side single 'Avocado' and '41'. Both songs received heavy rotation in the UK as Steve Lamacq and John Kennedy (Radio X) added the tracks to their playlists in July and August 2017.

Davy is currently recording his debut album in Sun Street Studios and plays The Hope and Anchor, London on Saturday 30th June.
