Dirty Lights

Dirty Lights is the accidental brainchild of Rob Smith (The Swedish Railway Orchestra) and Steven Gannon (former drummer of Kid Karate). The project came to fruition via WhatsApp voice notes while Rob was working on music for his main project in Dublin and Steven was travelling around Japan, writing about the things he saw and people he interacted with over there.

After toying around with the idea of collaborating on some songs, Rob recorded a few initial ideas, fleshing them out as the pair continued their virtual songwriting sessions. Over time the pair realised they had amassed a lot of material.

The result of these sessions is ‘Paper Thin Veils’, the first song from their soon-to-be-released EP, The Shibuya Demos. Dirty Lights came about through virtual communication, and seems apt that the songs see the light of day under the current circumstances.
