ELAVATOR

Elavator are a Dublin three-piece rock band. The band's sound is a retro synthesis of 60s blues rock and 90s Britpop, with a healthy dose of modish tendencies. They cite the Beatles, Pink Floyd and Rory Gallagher as their main influences and have forged their own raw style, which has earned them much recognition amongst the Dublin gigging circuit. The band, which has been composing, performing and recording for over 7 years now, consists of Greg Clifford- vocals, guitar, keyboard, chief song writer, Keith Mahon- bass, vocals and Anthony Burke- drums, vocals.

The band also calls on aspects of Krautrock, Electro-acoustic sounds and Classical music, through the use of string quartets and chamber orchestra arrangements in their fusion based sound.

Elavator have been described as a catchy and edgy rock band with a great bluesy vibe (Heather MacLeod – Dublin City FM) and are a band with strong musicality that builds upon the foundations of great song-writing (NDT Productions).

The spelling of Elavator often comes into question. They spell it incorrectly on purpose. Graphically, the band feels that ‘ELAVATOR’ looks stronger than its correct spelling. There is no deep meaning to their name, as they say it is merely an ‘identity, Clifford is also a keen admirer of the psychedelic, garage band The 13th Floor Elevators and admits that naming the band Elavator is a loose tribute to them and front man Roky Erickson.
