Eoghan O Keeffe

Folk // Cork, Cork

Hailing from the enchanting landscapes of West Cork, Eoghan O'Keeffe is not your usual singer-songwriter; he is a musical alchemist weaving spells of sound that resonate with trust, compassion, and poetic fervour. His artistry carries the feel of his coastal hometown, while simultaneously transcending the boundaries of the Indie Folk genre.

Eoghan's debut album "Open The Gates" released in 2020 was meticulously produced and mixed by Brian Casey of Wavefield Recording, marking the inception of his foray into the Irish music industry. His melodies have since become woven into the tapestry of West Cork's soul, finding a home in many pubs, restaurants, café's, and music venues. With a visionary spirit, Eoghan has forged many creative partnerships with local businesses and cafes, crafting unique gigging experiences for the locals and tourists alike.

Eoghan envisions his music as 'a sanctuary, a space where listeners can embrace moments of reflection and self-compassion'. Influenced by indie folk, soul, and the rhythms of world music, Eoghan's musical journey traces a path from the lyrical prowess of Bob Dylan and Van Morrison to the global rhythms of Brazilian sensation Jorge Ben Jor, the haunting melodies of Sting, the evocative guitar wizardry of Ry Cooder, and the soul-stirring tunes of Malian legend Fatoumata Diawara.

In 2021 Eoghan embarked upon a journey of guitar mastery, during this sonic exploration Eoghan found inspiration in the rich sounds of the world. After a decade of teaching himself he decided to take his first ever guitar lesson with a Congolese guitar teacher. His musical canvas is ever expanding, now incorporating vibrant hues of Flamenco, sultry rhythms of Bossa Nova, and the lyrical landscapes of Latin American styles.

As he prepares for his second album, Eoghan is simultaneously crafting two EPs. The first EP was made with his world music band "Imbas" based on the south West Coast of Ireland. It is a mesmerizing blend of laid-back rhythms and lush melodies, where the gorgeous melodies of the flute features heavily. The second EP is a solo endeavour, delving into the experimental space between indie folk and world music, forging a sublime fusion of classical folk songwriting and contemporary soundscapes.
