Formerly of Le Galaxie, Dave McGloughlin is a Dublin born, Galway-based producer and biped currently making music as Fakenamé.
Having written, recorded and toured with festival dance-tent favourites Le Galaxie for the last 10 years, Dave decided to make a new beginning and left the band in July 2019. Having decamped to Galway, he has been working on new solo material with a view to performing live shows. "Strangers To Love" was his debut release in October 2019 - a short, sharp "hello_world!" of a track that featured a cheeky sample you may or may not recognise, or indeed care for.
"Having done so much with Le Galaxie - playing all over the world, signing record deals, playing huge festival shows - leaving the band and starting a solo project was one of the most difficult decisions I've ever had to make." said Dave. "But the fear of leaving was matched with the excitement of the unknown, and the challenge of starting over again from near absolute zero, but with a blank slate."
A blank slate that allowed the freedom to accidentally turn the remix of an instrumental he was working on for Benny Smiles into a full blown song with lyrics and his own vocal - lead vocals not being something that was necessarily in his plan for the Fakenamé project. The original version, which was a mid-tempo soundtrack to an L.A. night-drive, had become a naive heartfelt dance-floor bear-hug celebrating the value of touch, especially in the strange times we live in now.
Dave is working on new music and a live show, scheduled for some time after the current madness is all over.
