Fierce Shook

Punk // Tullamore, Offaly // They/Them

Fierce Shook are a 3-piece experimental band whose members all originally hail from Tullamore, Co. Offaly, Ireland. The group consists of Rob Moore (Guitar, Bass, Vocals) and brothers Owen (Guitar, Bass, Vocals) and Ozzy Holmes (Drums, Vocals).

The band was started as a private hobby and a creative outlet for its members over 10 years ago. They released their debut EP "Fierce Shook Altogether" in March 2021. This was followed up with the singles Daniel, Astro Turf and Luthite over the course of 2021 and 2022.

The group played their first gig in August 2022 in the Bello Bar and this was followed by a number of well received gigs around the country, including their first festival appearance. The band would also go on to record a live radio session for Near FM.

The band will release their latest EP, Something Sophisticated, on 11-October-2024 to Bandcamp and all the streaming services. The EP contains 4 tracks that veer from melodic and melancholic to harsh and experimental, capturing the band at their eclectic best.

Recorded and mixed by Shauny Cads (Chewie, Burning Realm, Primordial) at Last Light Recording, Something Sophisticated is a significant leap forward from Fierce Shook's previously self-recorded releases. The band’s previous clutch of recordings saw them garnering a small but dedicated following around Ireland and they have spent the 2 years since their last single (Luthite) working on new material and further developing their sound.

For this release, Fierce Shook moved out of their respective home studios for the first time and into Dublin's Last Light Recording Studios. The band, honed tight from playing numerous well received shows around Ireland; and working with the excellent Shauny Cads, recorded all 4 songs in 1 day.

Something Sophisticated’s sound combines punk, post-rock and unexpected experimentation (think Fugazi and Rancid combined with Deerhoof and Battles). Songwriting and vocal duties are shared between members Rob and Owen and this contributes to the diversity in styles that’s displayed across the 4 tracks. The trio have managed to mix their influences into something that sounds personal, unique and unlike anything else that’s coming out of Ireland right now.

The EP will be preceded by the single Bus Trip on 4th-October-2024; a gorgeous 3-minute melodic punk song about processing grief.
