Dublin's Blues/Rock guitarist and teacher Gerry Quigley has returned home to Ireland after 30 successful years touring & recording in Australia and is now based in Cork City.
Gerry has teamed up with four of Cork's finest blues/rock musicians to form the Irish lineup of his successful band of 23 years playing the same great mix of Blues/Rock and Originals, with their newest blues album to be recorded in Ireland sometime in 2015.
Since their beginnings in 1991 The Shinkickers very quickly became an all-time favourite on the Perth local music scene and have received worldwide acclaim for their award-winning formula and original albums.
Gerry grew up in Dublin in the 1970's in a musical family where rock and roll was a way of life. Running home from school to witness legendary blues/rock guitarist Gary Moore rehearsing in his lounge room with older brother/bassist Pat Quigley; watching countless early band rehearsals in the Quigley family home by Irish rock gods Thin Lizzy and convincing legendary Thin Lizzy guitarist Eric Bell to provide him with a few guitar lessons are just some of the childhood memories Gerry cherishes and remembers like yesterday.
Such legendary influences in Gerry's childhood certainly set the standard and Gerry is renowned for captivating audiences with a display of spectacular guitar wizardry you must see to believe, and his ecclectic collection of instruments including electric guitar, acoustic guitar, slide guitar, mandolin and a unique double-neck mandola/bouzouki.
Gerry's signature style of magical, mystical feel guitar playing with diverse, melodic instrumental solos have been described as simply breathtaking and may even take you away to another world. With Gerry Quigley & The Shinkickers, one thing is certain - prepare to be captivated!
