Indie electro artist ILSANTINO has spent more than a decade recording, releasing and performing his own unique brand of retro-electropop. ilsantino has collaborated with other leading artists in this genre including Color Theory, Kid Moxie and UAP but his most enduring partnership to date has been with producer Conan Brophy...
ILSANTINO’s ability to write simple, catchy pop tunes is perfectly complemented by Brophy’s production style and capacity to create bright, shiny, spacey electropop tracks packed with energy, atmosphere and hooks galore.
Upcoming single ‘The Jewel That Was Ours’ is a song packed with conflict: analogue synthesisers clash with crunching contemporary beats; East and West collide along the barricades of the Berlin Wall; Cold War politics are eclipsed by the free market; and world-weary lovers cling to a sliver of hope in their darkest hour.
Set against the backdrop of Berlin in the late-1980s and inspired by the music of luminaries such as Kraftwerk and David Bowie, as well as breakbeat artists like Bicep, ‘The Jewel That Was Ours’ is unsettling and uplifting in equal measure. The track’s raw, visceral narrative is counterpointed by a soaring melody. Spartan synths compete with lush orchestration and garage beats. The overall effect is both jarring and gripping.
Oh, and be warned, Ronald Reagan makes a brief cameo appearance too!!
‘The Jewel That Was Ours’ releases 18 Nov 2024 on Spotify and all major DSPs!
