Joy Booth

Joy Booth is a singer/songwriter from Navan, Co. Meath. No stranger to some of Ireland’s best venues and festivals, she has opened shows for many musical luminaries around the Irish music scene, including Wallis Bird, Cathy Davey, Pilgrim St, Declan O’Rourke, Mary Coughlan and The Lost Brothers. Joy has collaborated with an eclectic mix of artists over the years, performing and recording as a band member with the likes of Saramai & The Swords, Eugene Donegan and The Handsome Boatmen. She is also currently a proud member of ‘If’ (a 7-piece ska/reggae-influenced band).

Joy's own brand of music is a folk/blues/country blend, exploring the playful and the very personal through captive melodic turns and disarmingly honest lyrics. Her long-awaited debut album “All You Were” was just released in January 2023. It features 18 of Meath's finest musicians, including Alun Smyth, Toby Cregan, Baz Fitzgerald and members of Pilgrim St, Perlee, Bowery Boy and If. The album was recorded at Crookedwood Studios in Slane, with acclaimed producer and pianist, Mark Cahill (of The Ivory Sessions).

“All You Were” was chosen as the featured album on Roddie Cleere’s Irish Music Show on KCLR98FM, album of the week on The Late Show with Eve Blair on BBC Radio Ulster and has been garnering extensive air play in Ireland and around the world. It is available now on most digital music platforms and on CD from Bandcamp.

Joy will play a solo show in Whelan's on 26th March as SJ McArdle's special guest, a full band show at Navan's Corazón festival on 8th April and will feature at Darkey Kelly’s Tuesday Singer-Songwriter Night on 6th June. Plans are in motion for a hometown launch gig and Irish tour later this year.
