Kevin Fowley

Folk // Dublin // he/him

Growing up, Kevin Fowley split his time between living in France and Ireland. He listened to French lullabies sung by his mother in one room, while his father would be playing Donegal tunes on the fiddle in another.

This bilingual and bicultural upbringing is apparent in his beautiful new record ‘À Feu Doux’ which encompasses musical elements from both worlds. Seamlessly gliding across folk, jazz, and a rich yet shimmering in between sound. Unvarnished and exposed is the feeling that floats through À Feu Doux like a gentle gust of wind creeping in through the open window at night.

À Feu Doux was released by acclaimed UK-based label Basin Rock in July 2024. The record is a collection of French lullabies and traditional folk songs dating as far back as the 14th century, adapted with contemporary arrangements and faint tape manipulations

Fowley is joined by Ross Chaney (R.F. Chaney, John Francis Flynn) and Caimin Gilmore (Ye Vagabonds, Lisa Hannigan, Crash Ensemble) on the record, which was mixed by Brendan Jenkinson (Villagers, Aoife Nessa Frances) and mastered by Grammy-winning engineer Ben Rawlins.

The record has been critically acclaimed in Ireland and internationally. It has been played regularly on Irish and international radio stations including BBC Radio 6, KEXP, and RTE Radio 1.

Spring 2024 saw Fowley on the road, as special guest on Oisín Leech’s sold-out Cold Sea Irish tour. This was followed by a summer performing a sold-out album launch concert for À Feu Doux in The Cobblestone, a lauded set at the Young Hearts Run Free stage at Another Love Story, and a support set for Seamas Hyland’s Maidin Domhnaigh launch in Whelan’s.

Autumn 2024 saw Fowley on the road again: as special guest for John Francis Flynn’s Irish and UK tour, playing a headlining set in Todmorden with Basin Rock DJs, and his first London concert at Moth Club supporting Eoghan Ó Ceannabháin.
