Originally from São Paulo, Brazil, singer-songwriter & composer Kuara discovered her love for music early in life, inspired by her father’s violin playing and the lively rhythms of Bossa Nova/Brazilian jazz, and Samba. Her name, meaning "Sun" in Tupi Guarani, pays tribute to her great-grandmother and reflects the warmth and energy she infuses into her music.
Kuara’s musical journey began with the piano and expanded to playing the organ and singing in church. Her departure from the church, due to her refusal to conform to its doctrines, helped shape her bold and independent spirit.
Now based in Dublin, Kuara has just released her first single, 'Brand New Day,' which is available on various platforms. Teaming up with producer and renowned jazz percussionist André Antunes, Kuara’s upcoming debut EP will feature original piano-led compositions, enriched with Brazilian percussion and soul influences.
Kuara has performed at notable Dublin venues including The Workman’s Club, The Grand Social, International Bar and others. Her soulful vocal style is rich and emotionally expressive, drawing inspiration from artists like Lianne La Havas and Erykah Badu. Her lyrics explore themes of love, self-worth, toxic relationships, and social justice, including women’s rights and freedom of expression.
