Lilac Blues comprises of two female vocalists; Laura O’Gara and
Kathleen Mahon, who while singing with two distinctly different
styles, blend together through melodic harmonies.
Alan Taylor is the guitar player whose music gels them all together.
The group are joined by Laura’s brother Emmett O’Gara on drums, David
Mulcahy on bass & Justin Mulcahy on guitar.
Lilac Blues originally came together in late 2006 as a covers group,
hoping to gig locally in and around Longford and the midlands.
Work commitments and family life got in the way and we disbanded
before we really got off the ground.
Yet no matter what way life took us, it was our drive for music
performance and song writing that motivated us, and so in late 2007 we
decided to try again.
This time around we are working on and performing solely our original
material, which reflects our three different styles and backgrounds.
Jazz, blues, country, irish and even clasical music feature in the
bands past and in our influences, so just what our style is we’re
still not sure.
We do know however that we enjoy writing and performing our music and
those that hear it share in our enthusiasm.
So that's where we are now, still pushing forward, doing our thing and
having a great time!
