Madams Last Discovery is a four-piece band from Belfast, consisting of Flinn O’Grady, Nathan Shawe, Darragh (Gigsy) McGuigan, and Fiontan McAleavey. They formed in early 2022 and after discovering their strong point as a band wasn’t covers, they began to write together, each of them throwing in musical elements of their own. By the end of the year, they came out to show the local Belfast music scene what they had come up with. This lead them over the past 2 years playing support slots in venues such as Limelight, Mandela Hall, Oh Yeah Centre and Ulster Sports Club and on the 21st of March 2024 the band played their first headline show in Voodoo, Belfast.
The band also made their festival debut on the 26th of August 2023 performing at Gazefest to over 200 people and has been booked by promoters such as the Volume Control team, Old Crow Promotions and Shine and supported acts such as Bronagh Gallagher, Red Eyed Pariah and Wynona Bleach since they started gigging.
Madams Last Discovery is a band which is striving to reflect the feel and emotion of 2023, whilst taking into account the last 50 or so years of rock music it’s all in there – from 60’s psychedelia to 70’s punk to 90’s baggy Madchester style to the anxiety filled stuff you hear nowadays like Fontaines DC or Demob Happy
The band has received radio play from the likes of BBC Radio Ulster's show Across the Line and Blast 106 with releases like their single "No More" in October 2023 and this enabled the band to make their Dublin debut on the 20th of November.
The next stage for the band more gigs out of NI as a push for Dublin is being made since they started gigging there in November performing at the Sound House, Fibber Magees and The Lighthouse.
