McGuire

Pop // Skerries, Dublin

McGuire is an Irish Pop/Rap performer and song-writer creating musical cocktails in Atlanta. A double shot of Pop mixed with a dose of modern Hip-Hop.

History often shows that it’s the dreamers of this world that tend to reach the highest plateaus of success. Irish rapper, songwriter and performer Rob McGuire (aka McGuire) has a keen understanding of this concept as someone who is relentless in pursuing a dream that defines and inspires his existence as a musical sculptor.

“McGuire is universal artistry,” says Rob. “It’s about finding an addictive trait in what you do, and finding perfection. It’s putting absolutely everything you have into what you want and what you feel is right. That’s who I am.”

Hailing from Skerries, Ireland, a small seaside town on the outskirts of Dublin, McGuire is in good company with an impressive list of artists who have made their mark through the years, including U2, Thin Lizzy and My Bloody Valentine among others. “When I was growing up, Skerries was very much indie rock influenced,” mentions McGuire. “I loved all that, but I started to get my edge musically when I was turned on to Coolio, Cypress Hill and Eminem.” Rob would spend countless hours in his room putting teen angst down onto paper and developing a flow that would eventually morph into the McGuire sound.

In 2011, after placing third in a rap competition in Waterford to open for 50 Cent, American music manager Hugh Hession heard about the event and was intrigued by McGuire’s talent and persistence. “Rob has this unwavering belief in himself and knows what he wants,” says Hession. “Of course, his flow and lyrical ability goes without saying, but not everyone has such an intense desire to succeed.”

In 2012, arrangements were made to fly Rob to Atlanta, Georgia where he co-wrote “SuperNova” along with Hession and his partner, DJ Freez (Lester Cromer).

SuperNova is certainly a song you won’t easily forget. From the opening hook (Lights and Action/Star Attraction/Baby Let Your Body Be Free), the song features the vocal prowess of up and comer Joe-Joe Legras integrated with McGuire’s penetrating delivery (We’re moving faster past the point of disaster/A love crash course don’t ask what comes after/The heat must have melted my watch/When I’s with you 'cuz it felt like time just stopped). SuperNova explodes on the catwalk with the beauty and confidence of high fashion and through the intense heat of raw, sexual energy on dance floors all across the world.

McGuire assembled an all-star line-up for the single including Grammy award winning mixmeister Ken Lewis (FUN, Kanye West, Usher, Jay-Z, Alicia Keys) and renowned mastering engineer Brian “Big Bass” Gardner (Macklemore, Dr. Dre, Eminem, Beastie Boys, Snoop Dog). Big Motion filmed the SuperNova video at Studio Space, a hotspot for video and TV show production in Atlanta with such companies as Disney, VH1, ABC and artists including P Diddy, B.O.B, Ludacris, Jeezy and more.

And now, as the stars begin to align, McGuire is getting ready to assemble the launching pad to stage the anticipated lift-off in his home country of Ireland. It’s a proud moment not only for his country but for the inception of an exceptional music artist. Welcome to McGuireland.
