"That is particularly homemade music. Gentrification is a track by Nixer, Nixer is a new discovery of mine..”
IGGY POP, BBC Radio 6
"Nixer’s set was like and audio energy drink, or maybe two - one after another. The tracks that they have created are high energy, but not without subtlety and substance."
Dan Hegarty - RTÉ top five gigs of 2022
“An interesting mix of taut new-wave guitar and keyboards”
Steve Lamacq, BBC Radio 6 - Nixer 6Music Spotlight Artist 21/01/22
“It is a lively one… discovered by Iggy Pop who gave them early 6Music support… fantastic no wave/new wave action to this… can’t wait to hear more from the duo Nixer”
Lauren Laverne, BBC Radio 6 - ‘While You Were Sleeping’ track
“Absolute Bangers”
Clash magazine
Nixer is a London-based Irish act. They write, record and produce their raw, energetic synth-punk sound independently. The sound of Nixer is built on elements of electronic dance, alternative and new wave with the pop sensibilities of noughties indie. The genesis of the project is in part the result of two contrasting musical backgrounds fusing together to spark a sound born from a time of isolation and uncertainty. Nixer's conceptual world and inspiration is built on their surroundings, experiences, socialising, fictional literature and nightlife and is delivered through a passionate, pure love for storytelling, sounds, and production.
Following a creatively prolific 2023, punctuated by a UK tour with Irish music behemoths The Mary Wallopers, Nixer continue their artistic journey with their first single 2024; 'The Book'. 'The Book' marks the second single from Nixer’s forthcoming EP ‘I hit the town and the town hit me back’ and further burnishes their reputation as one of the most exciting lyricists emerging from London’s fertile alternative scene. Following on from the successes of ‘Second Hand’ ‘Pleasure’ & ‘Irish Dancer’, ‘The Book’ continues the act’s run of diverse singles, from both a sonic and thematic perspective.
The act have already played close to 20 shows in 2024 including a UK/Ireland support tour with The Clockworks, multiple headline shows including London, Brighton, and a Palestine fundraiser gig in London that was curated and hosted by Nixer. Ahead of the release of the next record on May 15th, things are already heating up in the first quarter of the year.
Nixer's debut EP titled 'PEOPLE FEEL' released on May 27th 2022 and received support from BBC R1's Jack Saunders ('Next Wave Artist' feature) and Gemma Bradley, BBC 6Music's Iggy Pop, Steve Lamacq ('Spotlight Artist' feature & interview) and Lauren Laverne ('While You Were Sleeping' feature), RTÉ's Dan Hegarty ('RTE TOTW'), NTS' Gabi Bobrovizki, Graham Smyth, Tara Kumar and Handsome Paddy. As well as support from CLASH Magazine, Nialler9, Golden Plec, Hot Press Magazine.
Nixer had a busy debut year touring in 2022 playing Electric Picnic, Other Voices, The Great Escape and London Calling Amsterdam. As well as three sold-out London headline shows.
