Invoking an unsuspectingly familiar sense of belonging and nostalgia in his listeners, Oscar Blue’s songwriting can transport you to some other place or feeling, leaning into his own experiences in an instinctively honest and uninhibited style.
His debut string of singles (2018/19,) recorded on a shoestring budget in a small home recording studio, have remarkably gone on to be streamed over 10 million times worldwide. These songs demonstrate the acoustic nuts and bolts of the folk genre which subtly underpin the Co. Clare native’s writing. Recent times have seen Oscar Blue's sound evolve to incorporate soaring guitar riffs, meandering soundscapes and spell-binding bass and percussive elements which point to more contemporary indie, rock and pop influences. This sound has best been demonstrated on his debut “Backyard Mafia EP”, released independently in October 2022, which lead to national Irish radio play, support slots with internationally acclaimed bands such as Kodaline, KAWALA, Seafret, and Sons of the East as well as sold out headline gigs in Dublin and London.
Oscar joined the ranks of Pure Represents in early 2023 – the booking agents for some of his favourite artists such as George Ezra, Holly Humberstone, Paolo Nutini and more. In addition to working with Grammy Award winning mixing engineer & producer Ruadhri Cushnan (Ed Sheeran), and renowned musician, producer & songwriter Carey Willets (Dermot Kennedy), Oscar has landed heavyweight Spotify playlisting (NMF UK, Folk Pop, Fresh Finds +more) and has co-writes with Irish leading lights Lea Hart and Gavin James.
Late 2023 had Oscar concluding a highly successful UK+IRE tour, including sold-out shows in Cork, Limerick and London, and a packed Dublin gig being the biggest headliner he has played to date. Additionally, he’s recently been featured on RTE Radio 1, RTE 2fm, Cork's 96FM, Dublin’s 104FM, Co. Clare’s ClareFM and Belfast's CoolFM, and has been generating millions of impressions on TikTok.
