Reckless Youth

Hi! We're Reckless Youth, pleased to meet you!

Originally created in 2008 under the name D is for Dave, the band went through numerous lineup changes, involving a grand total of no less than 10 (!) members. Eventually in 2011, a concrete lineup was settled on, consisting of founding member Eanna Brown (Bass Guitar, Backing Vocals and Production) teaming up with Michael Davis (Lead Vocals and Guitar), Sean Henderson (Lead Guitar) and long-time member Atreyu Conneely (Drums, Percussion and Backing Vocals). Around this time, the band started to be picked up to play gigs around the Galway area, including places like Loughrea, Athenry, Kinvara and Galway City itself.

Towards the end of the summer of 2012, the decision was made to change the name to something that reflected the more serious nature of the band. After a poll was taken on Facebook, the name Reckless Youth was decided on. Since then, the renewed focus of the band has proved beneficial, as the band started to get gigs outside the county such as Castlebar and Limerick. The band has supported the likes of Struck and have even played a set with Derek Murray, the lead guitarist of The Stunning.

In April, just before the band was due to record their first EP, Sean left the band to pursue his own musical career. After much searching, a replacement was found in James Colohan (Lead Guitar, Backing Vocals). Despite the fact that all has been quiet on the gig front, the band has been working away in the background ever since, perfecting their product for the stage. All of this paid off as the band made it to the semi-finals of the iRocks competition, as well as the semi-finals of the UL Music Soc Battle of the Bands competition.

Recently Atreyu also parted ways with the band to persue his own career in Cork, and after a 10-month hiatus, the band is returning to it's former glory with the addition of Paul Joyce (Drums) to the lineup and the release of the first single, "You Drive Me Wild", with an EP to follow.
