Ritual Effect

Grunge // Deansgrange, Dublin

There are gigs, and then there are live performances. The difference is that one goes through the motions, and the other is a statement and a captivating spectacle. Dublin-based threesome, RITUAL EFFECT are the latter in that statement. Having formed in late 2017, surviving through many incarnations and line-up changes, the Dublin-based three-piece have dragged the once infamous “Grunge” genre into a new realm, thanks to their crushing live presence, and modest back catalogue.

Not conforming to one particular sound, RITUAL EFFECT draw influence from the ‘90s alternative sounds and inject a powerful and furiously original contemporary edge to their songwriting. Add in the ability to turn a venue upside down with gripping live shows, and you’re close to understanding the intense creative fire that exists inside the collective mindset when writing, recording and performing together. The band’s name is testament to their dedication and commitment to giving their all, both on record, and when performing. “We believe in what we do and even when things got tough, even when the obstacles have seemed insurmountable, we’ve kept going. It’s why we’re called Ritual Effect – we’re what comes out the other side of all the hard work. It’s why we chose our logo – the alchemy symbol for “precipitate” – “a product resulting from a process, event, or a course of action”. It’s why we’ve nailed our colours to the mast with our most recent EP – “Too Late To Turn Back” (2022) – we haven’t come this far to only come this far”, says bassist Christopher Goggins. Having smashed their way into the underground Irish music scene over the last few years, the band made a huge impact at 2023’s and 2024's Bloodstock Metal 2 The Masses Ireland showcases, where they performed before the UK festival’s booking agent, leaving an impression on all in attendance that is still remembered to this day.
Plans for 2025 are well underway with new music in the works, which will lead to some studio time in the first quarter of the year, before, what will no doubt be, a flurry of live dates across Ireland and the UK.
Like always, the guys will almost never turn down the opportunity to play live, as this is where they feel most comfortable, so be sure to get in contact should you require a passionate band that will deliver a sensational performance, packed with huge anthems and irresistible groove.
