Shooting Ducks

Cork/ Waterford based band Shooting Ducks release their first official single on http://shootingducks.bandcamp.com/ on the 23rd with all proceeds being donated to the wonderful and deserving Focus Ireland charity.

Focus Ireland aims to advance the right of people-out-of-home to live in a place they call home through quality services, research, and advocacy. Focus Ireland believes that every person has the right to a place they call home, which is particularly important at this time of year.

Shooting Ducks rise from the not so cold ashes of acoustic group PIO. PIO consisted of two friends Niall and Dave who after a few musical meetings decided to form an "acoustic duo type thing" and name themselves after their inspirational friend Brendan "Pio" Gildea. Song writing flourished but gigging merely stumbled along and the two decided to add to the family. Marcus was added to the line-up as the multi- instrumentalist guy and following the departure of the highly talented but unfortunately highly sought after Jo Linehan on drums from the band newest addition Keith Walsh took the sticks. Keith's addition took the music in a different direction which was smothered under the PIO name tag so following an evening in the sun terrorising beaked creatures....Shooting Ducks were born!

We (yup third person talk has been abandoned) have been lucky enough to support some very talented people in our short lifespan including National Saturday,Ms.Cathy Davey,Blind Pilots ,Star Crossed Enemies,The Followers of Otis and Heritage Centre to name but a few and recently played a very well received set at the Hard Working Class Heroes Festival 2010 and we’re played on the late great Gerry Ryan’s 2FM show as part as his Undercurrents section!

Shooting Ducks are currently back in the studio recording what shall become our debut album for release in 2011!
