The Depravations were a five piece indie/ folk/ surf/ pop band based in Galway city on the west coast of Ireland made up of David Boland, Otis Liddy, Eoghan McGinley, John Burke and Mosey Byrne.
In 2010 they released the Mosey EP which received favourable reviews from such people as nialler9 (“An impressive debut”), Aoife Barry (“Gentle folky sounds with harmonies to swoon over”) and Barry Gruff (“One of the west of Ireland’s hidden treasures”).
Some high profile gigs they played include the Hard Working Class Heroes festival (2010, 2011, 2012), the Whelan’s Ones To Watch Festival in 2012, the Hotpress Jagermeister Freezer Sessions, the FMC Tour and the Turning Pirate Mixtape New Years Eve Party (w/Jape, Neil Hannon, Cathy Davey and Lisa Hannigan).
They released the album Onwards, Westwards in January 2013.
They went their separate ways in December 2013.
Lead singer and songwriter David Boland went on to form New Pope, guitarist Eoghan McGinley became El Hodad while bassist John Burke and drummer Mosey Byrne continued as the rhythm section of Rural Savage.
