The Louisiana 6 are a Dublin based 50's style Skiffle 6 piece. Skiffle, a mix of gospel, country & bluegrass, was huge around the late 50's (The Beatles first band - The Silver Beatles - were skiffle) and its finest purveyor was Lonnie Donegan.
Formed in 2009 by Brian 'Slim' Brereton (b. 1939) who was the original box bass & washboard player of the 1957 Skiffle Champions of Ireland - The Louisiana 5, managed by his father Jack Brereton. Keeping it in the family Brian's 2 sons John & Tony (also of Sack & Electric Penguins) also play in the band: on rhythm guitar and drums respectively. The line up is ompleted by blues harp maestro Donal Mooney, lead guitarist Morgan Baker (from the parish of Atlanta, Georgia) and on double bass, that always dapper young Englishman, Mr Tim Fernley (also of Gypsy Rebel Rabble etc etc)
The Louisiana 6 have supported American stars such as Pokey LaFarge & The South City Three and Big Sandy & His Fly Rite Boys recently and are penciled in to play at this years Electric Picnic (Salty Dog Stage) The Knockanstockan Festival in Blessington & the Dublin City based Jack O Diamonds Rhythm & Roots Festival.
