The Magnetic are a young, fresh and talented four-piece band. They are Luke Eaton (Drums), Maria McMillan (Vocals), Amy McGirr (Guitar) and James Smith (Bass). They have been writing and creating their own brand of Indie-Pop ever since Luke brought the group together in 2011 after becoming good friends in their later years at St. Andrews Academy. Six months and from humble beginnings, they recorded their first track "I Don't Know" in a small studio, which to this day still proves a crowd pleaser.
With a growing live fan base, The Magnetic love nothing more than playing, writing and developing their innovative sound at venues up and down the country. Their unique brand of indie-pop, with rhythmic bass-lines and catchy vocals has earned them many friends, which was obvious when they headlined the prestigious Classic Grand in Glasgow and The Tollbooth in Stirling recently. They were also recently featured on Clyde 1 DJ Jim Gellatly's New Music Podcast, with "I Don't Know" being one of the only tracks played by an unsigned artist - in his words "sounding a bit like Mumford [& Sons] mixed with Steeleye Span". The show is famous for being the first to play the next big thing, and The Magnetic featured alongside the likes of The Fratellis and Nina Nesbitt.
