With their debut album "Serious About Men" selling out over Christmas and new singles Spoiling Ivan and Black Man accompanied by hilarious videos clocking up the views, the Rubberbandits have just announced a quartet of live shows in Dublin, London, New York and Toronto this March 2012. Mr. Chrome and Blindboy Boatclub with Dj Willie O'Deajay (He's not their father, he's their mothers boyfriend) kick off the globetrotting escapades with the Academy in Dublin on Thursday 1st March 2012.
Coming after the new single “Black Man”, cult hit “Spastic Hawk” and “I Wanna Fight Your Father” ”, the Limerick duo launched their debut album earlier this month. A double-CD release packed with tracks old and new, prank phone calls and more, “Serious About Men” is everything you have come to expect from the Rubberbandits and then some. Having shot to worldwide fame in 2010, it’s been a momentous year for the comedy hip-hop outfit. Blindboy Boat Club and Mr. Chrome became internet superstars after “Horse Outside” premiered on RTÉ’s Republic of Telly and subsequently went viral (over 8 million views and counting!).
Critically acclaimed shows at Oxegen and Electric Picnic, storming uk festival appearances at Reading and Leeds combined with a sold out run of shows in New York combined with sell out shows all over Ireland to keep the bandit boys busy. Throw in filming a four part series and live show with MTV in the USA, an Ifta award and their Comedy Blaps filmed for Channel 4 with Fr. Ted's Declan Lowney on direction duty and you can see 2011 was quite a year for our bagged up boys.
2012 kicked off with a sold out Australian Tour and they're back to finish working on a half hour show for Channel Four to air this autumn. They headed off to the USA and Canada on tour in March and followed up with a string of UK and Irish festival dates before taking on a 12 night run at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival which saw them pick up 4 star reviews, house full signs and the Malcom Hardee Award for most original comedy. They also featured on the BBC3 Best of the Fringe tv show performing Roisin and Horse Outside Live before appearing on Channel 4's Boyle variety performance doing a an all singing and dancing version of the Black Man Video Live.
Upcoming dates in Ireland include the Valentia Festival on 15th September and the Dublin Fringe on 22nd September.
