“We drive all night, no signs of life, it cost us nothing but our memory”
Following on from their various releases: Metroma (as featured on BBC/Hulu’s Normal People + Sky’s The Rising), Sentient (Truth Be Told, Apple + TV), Let It All Go (BBC/Hulu’s Conversations with Friends) and their exquisite Lumen EP, electronica/alternative project The Sei, made up of Irish / Swedish duo Stace Gill and Maria Nilsson Waller alongside the production of Ross Dowling (Talos, James Vincent McMorrow) announce their upcoming 2023 releases: again with long-term label partners Paragon Records.
The group will release 2 separate EPs, namely "Golden Heron" and "Praying Positions/Metamorphosis". The latter is being released with a descriptive dance score. It's a kind of guide and invite for anyone who feels like making their own dance for the music. The dance work was initially curated by Oona Doherty for London's Dance Umbrella 2021. Oona was the dance artist and choreographer on Jamie XX and Gilla Band videos.
In 2022 The Sei also made a new dance music score and it is part of a presentation called Bluebells: https://florafaunaproject.com/projects/bluebells.html
The band have also had a busy time touring from Sweden to Ireland over the last few months. Beginning in Jamtland, they headed down to Malmo before driving through France, Holland and Belgium before arriving back in Ireland to perform at D-Light Studios, The Midlands and a show in Skibbereen Arts Centre.
Their work in Sweden has been supported by Riksteatern, Konstnärsnämnden, Estrad Norr, and Dans I Örebro.
They have also had huge support from Ireland’s 2fm, BBC Across The Line, Amazing Radio USA and UK, as well as tastemaker shows on 6 Music, KCRW, Radio Eins in Berlin and more. Their various sync placements (e.g. The Rising on Sky TV, Truth Be Told on Apple +, Conversations with Friends and Normal People on BBC / Hulu and several more have also helped to increase their levels of streaming + DSP support.
