Wilde Ida

Folk // Galway, Galway

Wilde Ida (so named for Niceol Blue's Granny) are an Americana band based out of the West of Ireland, playing songs and tunes old and new that will catch your ear, move your heart and your feet and leave you smiling no matter what.

The band began playing together at the Sunday Americana Session at the Townhouse Bar in Galway City. All of the members of the band are seasoned musicians with different backgrounds and musical heritage, and all involved have a lasting love of American music: Old-Time, Mountain Music, Bluegrass, Blues, Americana, and of course, Country.

Wilde Ida perform new takes on old favourites, old takes on new favourites and old-timey original tunes.

Having played their debut gig at Séan Agus Nua in 2013 Galway city, the band quickly followed up with a stint at the Bog Cottage in Electric Picnic 2013, the Secret Garden Festival and Knockanstockan, as well as playing regularly in Galway. In 2014 the band produced a demo with a single mic in a sitting room, and then began working on their debut EP, due out later in the year.
