YANG

YANG is an Oakland California based singer, songwriter and producer. Born and raised in London to an Irish American mother and Irish Liverpudlian father he was exposed to everything from techno, reggae and dancehall to The Beatles, Simon & Garfunkel and Nirvana.

He started writing, recording and performing music in 90s London with band The Dharma Bones which he founded with best friend and songwriting partner Ali Milne. After on and off stints with various bands over the years and dabbling with electronica he ended up in Jamaica in 2017 where he started producing reggae, working with some of the top reggae artists of all time including Sly & Robbie, Big Youth and Scientist. Tuff Gong offered him a distribution deal and ever since he has been putting out alternative rock and reggae tracks that he’s produced on his label Straight Up Records.
