A heady cocktail of lyrical, harmony driven psych-pop and shimmering space-echo guitars, Belfast-based three-piece outfit Yes Cadets feature singer/guitarist Alan Haslam, singer/ drummer Lisa Mageean and classically trained singer/ keys prodigy Rachel Toman.
As equally inspired by dreamy fuzzed-out post-rock as they are by cerebral strains of electro-pop, the band create a highly distinctive sound on record and instantly gained buzz for their magnetic live performance.
On formation they rapidly garnered high profile festival slots across Europe (Glastonbury, MiDEM, Berlin Festival, Reeperbahn Festival) and support slots with luminaries The Antlers, Yuck, Guillemots and Public Service Broadcasting.
Before Yes Cadets had even released a single they were spotted by BBC Radio 2/ 6music's Steve Lamacq, who invited them to the BBC's legendary Maida Vale Studios for a coveted BBC live session.
Brimming with atmospheric pop hooks and pulsing cinematic lament, the debut Yes Cadets EP 'Le Mans', released on Berlin's top indie label Humming Records, includes the BBC Radio 1 playlisted title track and the BBC 6music Rebel Playlist winning 'Seconds In A Minute'. Released in September 2012 to widespread critical acclaim and followed by a largely sold-out European tour, the band are set to build on the success of the EP in 2014 with the release of their debut album, On Magic Mountain.
