Ylroy

Ylroy (they/them) is an Irish-Filipino singer-songwriter who has been writing songs since the age of 15. Drawing inspiration from artists like Moldy Peaches and Judee Sill, Ylroy's sound is a unique blend of introspective lyrics and stripped-back acoustic arrangements which gives way to their beautiful, soft vocals to create an ethereal atmosphere.

As for their genre, Ylroy's music straddles between the serious sincerity of folk and the playfulness of anti-folk. While their music often explores hard-hitting themes such as their experiences as a queer person and the complexities of human relationships, their usage of self-deprecation through lyrics and unusual instrumentation offer a refreshing counterbalance that results in songs that feel and sound authentic.

In October 2023, Ylroy released their highly-acclaimed debut EP, 'Three Flowers For My Beloved,' garnering praise from both local and international music publications such as Hot Press, Tonitruale, and Void Magazine. Ylroy is rapidly emerging as a prominent figure in Dublin's indie music scene, having sold out various venues across Dublin city. They have also been featured in prestigious showcases such as Hot Press' 'Young and Emerging' series and Whelan's 'Ones To Watch 2024'.
